Doonbeg National School (Scoil Náisiúnta Dúnbeag), is located in the coastal village of Doonbeg in Co. Clare. There are three mainstream class teachers, a special class teacher for children with ASD and a shared special education teacher. It promotes the Catholic Ethos, encouraging the children to develop fully intellectually, physically, emotionally, spiritually and morally.
The school strives to provide a quality education in a secure and caring environment, where children can reach their full potential. This is reflected in our recent educational and sporting achievements. The school has participated in a variety of initiatives, in which it has achieved national awards. These range from the Junior Entrepreneur, Active School, Blue Star, Digital Schools of Distinction and Peace Proms programmes. The school community of parents, pupils and teachers also work closely together, to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Our new building allows us to enjoy spacious classrooms equipped with the latest ICT technologies. The purpose built hall is used for all school activities and some community activities. The large tarmacadam area has playground markings for various games and is suitable for all ages.
The school has a proud sporting heritage and are the current gaelic football Cumann na mBunscol Division 5 and Clare Primary Schools ‘Wild Atlantic Way’ Division 4 winners for the 2022 – 2023 school year.
