There are two breaks during the normal school day. Sos takes place from 11:00 a.m. to 11:10 a.m. and lón from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Food

The school has a healthy eating policy. Children are encouraged to bring a healthy lunch such as sandwich; fruit; yoghurt and drink of water/juice. The following are not allowed: crisps, sweets, fizzy drinks.

Parking

In the interests of Health and Safety, we would ask parents to escort their children from the school gate. Also, please take due care when leaving the parking area outside the school.

Absences

If your child is absent due to sickness, family reasons etc. please inform the school in writing. If a child misses 20 or more days from school the Principal has a duty to report these absences to the National Educational Welfare Board (NEWB).

When a report is forwarded to the NEWB parents will be informed. The NEWB may follow up such reports and contact the parents. Under no circumstances should a sick child be sent to school. It is unfair on the child, the other children in the class and the teacher.

Communication with Parents

Please keep an eye on your child’s school bag as it might contain notes for parents. The school has a “Text-a-Parent” to remind parents of events or to inform them of emergency closures etc. Please ensure that the school has one current mobile phone contact at all times for “Text-a-Parent”. If you change that number please inform the school Secretary immediately.

Please do not hesitate to approach the teacher if you are anxious about some issue relating to your child. However, if you wish a more detailed discussion please arrange a convenient time in advance e.g. telephone the secretary or send in a note.
